NATO invites Russia to join Afghan fray

Posted by seumasach on October 27, 2010

By making the US dependent on her in Afghanistan, Russia is defanging the US. At the same,  on its western flank, Russia pursues the greatest prize of all, prizing Europe out of the Atlanticist block- the final piece in the multipolar jigsaw.

Asia Times

28th October, 2010

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) officials have revealed their proposal with Moscow regarding a vastly stepped up Russian involvement in the Afghan war is in the final stages of negotiation and they are hopeful of formal agreement being reached at the alliance’s two-day summit in Lisbon from November 19.

Aziz’s story will remain untold

Pepe Escobar,

Asia Times

28th October, 2010

The neo-conservatives always contended that the United Statesinvaded Iraq to bring “democracy” (from the barrel of a gun). Seems like if not democracy, at least the greatest hits of the US judicial system are indeed being implemented in (still occupied) Iraq; torture (as WikiLeaks has amply demonstrated) and the death penalty. Talk about liberation.

New Iraqi alignment reveals US failure

Asia Times

27th October, 2010

A newly released WikiLeaks document on Iraq and the new political alignment between Shi’ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki both provide fresh evidence that General David Petraeus’s war against Shi’ite militias in 2007-2008 was a futile exercise.

Voltairenet

23rd October, 2010

With almost flawless political timing, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee of the Norwegian Parliament announced the giving of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize to Chinese critic, political activist Liu Xiaobo. The announcement came just as US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geither was upping the pressure on the government of China to agree to a substantial revaluation of the Yuan, a move that would do little for the embattled dollar but cause great harm to China’s economy. The Nobel Prize theater is part of an escalating long-term pressure strategy of Washington against China.

Obama’s military appointments have corrupt past

Posted by seumasach on October 20, 2010

Voltairenet

20th October, 2010

The Defense officials appointed by Barack Obama are the authors of the worst crimes and embezzlements carried out under previous administrations. In terms of change, only the rhetoric is new; the practices remain the same. What is most startling is the lack of interest elicited by the closure of the investigation into the missing 3.4 trillion dollars and the upgrading of those responsible for the most monumental swindle in history.
