Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the Geneva II talks over the Syrian crisis will be “an unforgivable mistake” if Iran doesn’t attend the confab.
An attack on Iran remains a terrifying possibility, as a desperate flight forward by the Anglo-American coalition from an already hopeless situation in Iraq.

“I insisted on the necessity of Iran’s participation in (my) negotiations with all regional and international sides, who are involved in Syria’s issue, because in my opinion Iran is a major player,” Ban stressed in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the sidelines of the Second International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria in the Persian Gulf kingdom of Kuwait on Tuesday.

The US president Barack Obama lost no time to greet the agreement reached yesterday between Iran and ‘P5+1′ opening the Iran nuclear program to “new and more frequent inspections”. Obama knows — and he knows we know — that, finally, slowly but surely, the historic legacy of this extraordinary statesman is taking shape in front of our eyes.

Take a deep breath and stand back and recall what Lysander told us in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream – the course of true love never did run smooth. True, momentarily it seemed that the nascent, highly fragile P5+1 and Iran interim pact on the nuclear issue met with a blight and a conspicuous wilting of the expert-level negotiations at Vienna becomes inevitable in the downstream of the the US’ unilateral decision to impose sanctions on select firms which traded with Iran that were acts violative of Washington’s sanctions regime.
