Thierry Meyssan
Voltairenet
20th April, 2011
While Thierry Meyssan supports the Libyan insurrection against the Muammar Gaddafi regime, he doesn’t approve of Resolution 1973 and is opposed to the war. In previous articles, he pointed to the imperialist objectives behind this operation. In this essay, he exposes the main lies of Atlanticist propaganda.

TEL AVIV – The Western “military option” in Libya has turned into a military fashion show of questionable merit. In order to believe this, we need not take the word of American and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defense officials – many of whom, such as Pentagon chief Robert Gates and NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen, have been singing the “there is no military solution” refrain practically since the beginning of the intervention.

Oh, okay: if you really need us to keep bombing I suppose we could do one more day.

Despite making much of the idea that the US would be taking a “supporting role” in the Libyan War as of Sunday, it seems to have taken very little convincing for the Obama Administration to agree to the continuation of its air strikes.

Domenico Losurdo
Voltairenet
4th April, 2011

“This is, therefore, not a NATO operation, even if it must be able to rely on military planning and intervention capacities of the Alliance,” Juppe said.

“Perversely, Odyssey Dawn is laying the groundwork for the partition of Libya. Balkanization looms.”
That is exactly what it is designed to do – end the national- democratic revolution.
Pepe Escobar
Asia Times
24th March, 2011
Odyssey Dawn, at least for now, is the first United States Africom war. The Pentagon, via Vice Admiral Bill Gortney, dispelled any doubts as he stressed that the “leading edge” is American. Homer is played by General Carter Ham, out of his headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany (no African country bothered to host Africom). And Ulysses – in what looks and sounds more like an Iliad than an Odyssey – is commander of Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn Admiral Sam Locklear, on board USS Mount Whitney somewhere in the Mediterranean

The inevitable NATO strategy of bombing from a safe distance with “high precision” munitions is not a laughing matter but there is a marked element of farce to all this. Hopefully, the cracks in NATO will now become wide open and “the West” will be reduced to its rump, the US-UK-Israel axis.

CRACKS have appeared in the international coalition set up to enforce the no-fly zone over Libya after Nato refused to take control of the operation from the United States.

They said that the “indiscriminate” bombing raids went further than the no-fly zone agreed by the United Nations as a way of preventing Col Gaddafi’s attacks on rebel forces, and risked harming civilians.

Chris Floyd
Empire Burlesque
When the UN intervention into Libya was first announced, we immediately heard how the United States would not be in the forefront of the military action; the lead would be taken by other nations, with US acting largely as a supplier and facilitator for the “broad-based coalition” arrayed against Libya (including some real live Ay-rabs! as the interventionists enthusiastically noted.) But it took less than two days to give the lie to this claim.

Al-Ahram
