Excellent speech the charismatic Sahra Wagenknecht, the vice president of the German Left party and German MP, gave in the German parliament March 18. Highlights.
“The chief interest of the United States is to prevent coordination between Germany and Russia”
“Resultantly Ukraine has lost the great part of its industry. Today, the country is a bankrupt state, where people go hungry, shiver, and have salaries lower than people have in Ghana.”
“Furthermore, the US and Britain sending military advisors and delivering weapons is not a matter of supporting the peace process, but of torpedoing it. But do you now envision sanctions against the US and Britain?”

Indian Punchline

The reported ‘diplomatic snub’ by the European Union ignoring the Indian proposal seeking a summit meeting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi is traceable to Delhi’s impudence to keep under detention two Italian Marines for over three years now without trial. The Narendra Modi government is caught in a dilemma because it was the Bharatiya Janata Party that literally forced the UPA government into a corner. In fact, Modi himself contributed to the rabble-rousing.

It’s been one year since European sanctions were first enacted against Russia on 17 March, 2014, and it’s worthy to briefly highlight their consequences on Moscow. Likewise, the counter-sanctions that Russia imposed on the EU last summer must also be critically looked at in order to assess the economic and political impact of the ‘sanctions war’ on both parties. The results are certainly not at all what the West had anticipated.

A “humanitarian crisis” is exactly the correct characterization of the situation prevailing in Greece as well as in much of Europe, including, of course, Britain. It is crucial to support defendable red-lines in terms of minimum conditions of life regarding food, heating, shelter, water etc. just as one would do in a humanitarian crisis. The right to these requirements should be expressed in real terms, so much food, so much heating etc. since we are in an inflationary environment where wages and benefits are constantly being eroded.

Something remarkable is taking place in Russia, and it’s quite different from what we might expect. Rather than feel humiliated and depressed Russia is undergoing what I would call a kind of renaissance, a rebirth as a nation. This despite or in fact because the West, led by the so-called neo-conservatives in Washington, is trying everything including war on her doorstep in Ukraine, to collapse the Russian economy, humiliate Putin and paint Russians generally as bad. In the process, Russia is discovering positive attributes about her culture, her people, her land that had long been forgotten or suppressed.
