What’s Left

27th September, 2009

The construction of a uranium enrichment facility by Iran outside of Qum, which Tehran notified the International Atomic Energy Agency of days ago, has been seized upon dishonestly by Washington “as a chance to…persuade other countries to support the case for stronger sanctions” against Iran. [1]

The rise and rise of Brazil: Faster, stronger, higher

Posted by seumasach on September 27, 2009

The Brazilians used to say that “Brazil is the country of the future and always will be”: now the future is arriving.

Hugh O’Shaughnessy

Independent

27th September, 2009

God may not be Brazilian, as many of the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro proudly boast, but The Almighty seems to be swinging His or Her not inconsiderable influence towards the Cidade Maravilhosa, the Marvellous City on the South Atlantic ocean, as it pitches strongly for the chance of staging the 2016 Olympic Games. Its three rivals, Tokyo, Madrid and Chicago, seem to be fading as they turn into the home straight towards O Day in five days’ time. On 2 October the victorious city should be announced in Copenhagen, watched by a billion television viewers from across the world.

The Mysterious Collapse of WTC Seven

Why NIST’s Final 9/11 Report is Unscientific and False

David Ray Griffin

Global Research

14th September, 2009

At 5:21 in the afternoon of 9/11, almost seven hours after the Twin Towers had come down, Building 7 of the World Trade Center also came down. The collapse of this building was from the beginning considered a mystery. [1]

The same should have been true, to be sure, of the collapse of the Twin Towers. But they had been hit by planes, which had ignited big fires in them, and many people assumed this combination of causes to be sufficient to explain why they came down.

But WTC 7 had not been hit by a plane, so it was apparently the first steel-framed high-rise building in the known universe to have collapsed because of fire alone. New York Times writer James Glanz quoted a structural engineer as saying: “[W]ithin the structural engineering community, [WTC 7] is considered to be much more important to understand [than the Twin Towers],” because engineers had no answer to the question, “why did 7 come down?” [2]

Global Warming or Global Freezing: is the ice really melting?

Posted by seumasach on September 24, 2009

F.William Engdahl

Global Research

24th September, 2009

President Obama just made a melodramatic appeal at the United Nations for global measures to dramatically curb what he called “the climate threat,” current euphemism for what is more popularly known as Global Warming, the theory that man-made CO2 emissions from cars, coal plants and other man-made sources are causing the earth to warm to the point the polar icecaps are irreversibly melting and threatening to flood a quarter or more of the earth’s surface. There’s only one thing wrong with Mr. Obama’s dramatic scenario: it is scientifically utterly wrong. Since 2007 the polar icecaps have been growing not melting and the earth has been cooling, not warming.

Paralysed cancer drug girl to be put on at-risk register ‘to shut her up’

Posted by seumasach on September 21, 2009

Daily Mail

20th September, 2009

A mother who is planning legal action against a pharmaceutical giant – claiming her daughter was left partially paralysed after having an anti-cancer vaccine – has been told the teenager is to be put on the social services ‘at-risk’ register.

Cheryl Cave says allegations that she is abusing her 13-year-old daughter Ashleigh are an attempt to ‘shut her up’ as she is demanding an investigation into the safety of a drug used to protect girls against the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer.

Ashleigh collapsed shortly after being given the jab at school and has spent nearly a year in hospital.

As household debt shoots through the roof, some people are going on strike

Posted by seumasach on September 20, 2009

Iceland Weather Report

18th September, 2009

Icelandic households are in serious trouble. When the economy melted down last year, the krona plummeted and loans that people had taken in foreign currencies [they were all the rage here in 2006-2008] went through the roof. Initially the government responded by allowing people to freeze their loan payments for the time being. That freezing runs out in October, at which time households that are already heavily indebted will face an even greater burden, that in many cases will be insurmountable. Defaults have already started to increase – and starting in October they are likely to increase even more.
