Syrian “rebels” are short of men, not weapons

While the military situation in Syria has turned around and Al-Qusayr (photo) has been liberated by the Syrian Arab Army, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called for an urgent shipment of weapons to the rebels to rebalance the correlation of forces.

However, the magnitude of the armed groups’ defeat is such that supplying them weapons will not make much difference. What the “rebels” need are men, but there aren’t many left who are prepared to see Syria and die.

In the cirmunstances, France is obstructing the path to the “Geneva 2” conference.
