Patriarch Laham: No to foreign intervention in Syria

Patriarch Gregorios III Laham, Patriarch of Antioch, All the East, Alexandria and Jerusalem for the Catholic Church reiterated rejection of any foreign intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.

In a televised interview on Thursday, Patriarch Laham condemned the criminal and kidnapping acts committed by the armed terrorist groups against innocent citizens.

He said that two priests have been missing for more than 70 days and there are no news about them till now.

Patriarch Laham talked about his visit to a number of Syrian cities and areas, adding that he keeps in constant contact with Syrian citizens who stressed that large numbers of foreign gunmen are fighting among the ranks of the armed terrorist groups.

He said that the Syrian leadership is performing its legitimate role and works to bring the Syrian people together, stressing that Syria is not subjected to anyone.

The patriarch underlined the importance of enhancing reconciliation in Syria, adding that a ministry was established and it is responsible for national reconciliation among all spectrum of the Syrian people.

He said that establishing this ministry is an important and positive step in this stage, calling for supporting its efforts, particularly by the religious bodies.
