The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir V. Putin, is considering the establishment of a free trade zone between Syria and the Customs Union [1]
The Customs Union brings together Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Preliminary studies on the creation of the free trade zone began on May 25, 2012.
A free trade agreement between the UD and Syria would neutralize the impact of Western sanctions against Syria.

russia has been losing the war against the west since 1999. steadily it is being pushed further back, losing influence in africa and eventually the middle-east, when assad is toppled and the syria people reward putin by closing assess to the mediterean. the custom union is really one of the saddest attempts to counter the push of the west towards the east. belarus and kazakhstan? is putin serious? to be honest putin is such a bad strategist, and russia needs to get rid of him. China is gaining influence in africa but it will lose in the China sea, whilst the philipines, india, vietnam combine with the usa to counter china influence.
