Several hundred protesters have gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy in the Bosnian capital and have called for Washington to use its influence to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The protesters in Sarajevo on Thursday carried banners saying “Stop the killing of women and children of Palestine.”

Participants said photos from Gaza remind them of scenes in Sarajevo and other places where atrocities were committed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

A Bosnian-Palestinian friendship association established a help-line that people can call to donate money for victims in Gaza. Authorities said they are ready to accept injured Palestinians in three Bosnian cities. Sarajevo’s main hospital announced it will keep at least 100 beds available in case of mass medical evacuation.
