Alors que les États-uniens tentent de vider de leur contenu les arrangements de Moscou, en minant la conférence de « Genève-2 », l’État syrien et ses alliés régionaux font preuve d’une grande détermination à modifier d’une manière irréversibles les rapports de force sur le terrain. En assénant des coups de boutoirs aux terroristes, la Syrie réduit à presque rien la marge de manœuvre de Washington. Parallèlement, la Russie campe sur ses positions et refusent toutes les conditions posées par les États-unis concernant la composition de la délégation des « oppositions » syriennes et le blocage de la participation de l’Iran à cette conférence.

DAMASCUS – British statesman Sir Winston Churchill once said, “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.” On another occasion, he said, “Although prepared for martyrdom, I preferred that it be postponed.” 

These two quotes came to my mind, as I imagined Hasan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah, seated somewhere in Beirut, watching his allies and opponents hammer out a deal in Doha – to his favor – on Wednesday.  Read the rest of this entry »
