Your hypothesis is very close to the answer to stop honeybees dying out, however, it is very close.

Honeybees have been dying out for centuries not just in the last 30 years where people are blaming what you suggest and the Varroa mite which has esculated the problem of bees disapearing.

There are two common denominators;

The first of course is mankind taking the honeybee from its natural requirements in trying to domesticate honeybees so as to harvest their honey.

The second is placing bees into a log, box, skep or beehive and placing it where man wants not questioning or realising that honeybees do need Earth to assist in its survival creating their own perfect micro-climate with the right vibration levels.

I have not treated my colonies with any chemicals or sugar for the past 18 years as the original legal chemical treatments were killing my queens, so I started looking for a natural answer and solution to combat the varroa mite, CCD, disappearing bees.

The human race is very good at pointing the blame at whatever or whoever except themselves.

My honeybees are alive and well with no varroa or decease and produce honey in abundance, but why?

We are blinkered to nature not realising what it has to offer, prefering a chemical or bacterial answer to combat the plight of the honeybee. If you can`t ask them what they want you have to watch what they want which I have done and finding the answer and solution to to the holy grail of the beekeeping world.
