US slams Russia-Venezuela arms deal

Posted by seumasach on July 23, 2008

The USA looks on, helplessly, at a counter-globalisation process of nations collaborating for mutual security and benefit in the face of the fading empire.

The US State Department has rebuked Russia’s decision to sell a package of sophisticated arms, worth 2 billion dollars, to Venezuela.

The US government says Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez does not truly need the weapons and has high ambitions that “go beyond his country’s defensive needs,” according to DPA news agency.

Washington Mutual is optimistic about its ability to weather the mortgage crisis, but some analysts warn it may be a bit too optimistic.

Fact: All history reveals that time after time this planet of ours has experienced periods of warming and periods of cooling. A century of slight global warming, about half a degree, ended in 1998.

Fact: In this century a global cooling has set in. In 2008 most of the northern hemisphere, except for Western Europe, is coming out of what most scientists say has been the harshest winter in decades. Read the rest of this entry »

Children’s brain tissue gets more radiation

Posted by smeddum on July 22, 2008

July 22nd Microwave News
The brains of young children absorb twice as much as RF energy from a cell phone as those of adults, according to a set of new calculations carried out by Joe Wiart’s research group at France Telecom in the suburbs of Paris.

“[Our] analysis confirms that peripheral brain tissues of children seem to be higher exposed than the peripheral brain tissue of adults,” Wiart concludes in a paper that appears in the July 7 issue of Physics in Medicine and Biology. “Children are not simply small adults.” Wiart explained in an interview with Microwave News. “Their skin and their skulls are thinner than those of adults, and their ears are smaller too,” he said. “Given these differences, the higher SAR for children is not surprising,” Read the rest of this entry »

Karadzic’s Arrest Puts the Lid on the Fake War on Terror

Karadzic’s Arrest Puts the Lid on the FAKE War on Terror
22.07.2008 Source: Pravda.Ru URL: http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/105849-karadzic-0

Corporate western media gleefully announced the arrest of Serbian leader Radovan Karadzic on Monday, thereby adding one more nail on the lid of their hypocrisy, duplicity and self serving arrogance. How these postulating, perverse, immoral demons of hell can stand themselves defies the sensibilities of anyone who truly stands for truth and justice, not the justice of the law of the jungle where the strong crush the weak, but true justice. Mercenary approach

Posted by seumasach on July 22, 2008

Journalist Eamonn McCann’s article,“Mercenary approach,” in the 10 August edition of Ireland’s current affairs magazine Village discusses the latest news in the ongoing struggle for justice for murdered Belfast man Peter McBride. Writes McCann:

katemc.wordpress.com

The mother of a teenager shot dead by British soldiers in Belfast has launched a campaign for an inquiry into the alleged killing of civilians by private consultants in Iraq. Jean McBride’s 18-year-old son, Peter McBride, was shot dead by members of the Scots Guards regiment in the New Lodge Road area in September 1992. The men’s commander, Lt Col Tim Spicer, now heads the company at the centre of the Iraq allegations.

Iraqi police said American forces broke into a home in Baiji district north of Tikrit in Salahaddin province, opened direct fire on the residents, shooting dead the 17-year-old son of the governor of the province and another relative, and wounding three other people who were sleeping. The official spokesperson for the province described this as a “criminal operation by any standard” and demanded an investigation and punishment of the killers. The governor told his office to suspend its administrative activities and any cooperation with the American forces.

Izzat Ibrahim on resistance strategy

Missing Links

20th July

Baathist website al-moharer.net published the text of a lengthy speech by Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, described as “leader of Resistance and Liberation, general secretary of the Socialist Baath Party,” dated July 17, and an English rendition dated today July 20. Their English is getting better; however, what follows is my own rendition of a few paragraphs toward the end of the address in which Douri mentions other groups, and resistance strategy generally:
