30th July

From the details coming out of Ashgabat in Turkmenistan and Moscow over the weekend, it is apparent that the great game over Caspian energy has taken a dramatic turn. In the geopolitics of energy security, nothing like this has happened before. The United States has suffered a huge defeat in the race for Caspian gas. The question now is how much longer Washington could afford to keep Iran out of the energy market.

No British Honey By Christmas As Bees Suffer

Posted by seumasach on July 29, 2008

Remember that the British authorities still deny the presence of CCD in Britain and are, therefore, able to atribute the virtual elimination of the bee to the varroa mite. The reality is ,of course, that CCD is present, as has been widely reported by beekeepers and that varroa is not a credible explanation.

ENGLISH honey will run out by Christmas because pests have decimated the honey bee population, shoppers were warned last night.

Operation Sarkozy : how the CIA placed one of its agents at the presidency of the French Republic

Thierry Meyssan

Voltairenet.org

One should judge Nicolas Sarkozy according to his actions, and not according to his personality. Yet when his doings surprise even his own constituents, it is legitimate to take a detailed look at his biography and question the bonds that brought him to power. Thierry Meyssan has decided to write the truth about the French Republic’s president background. All the information included in this article is provable, except for two assertions signalled by the author who alone takes full responsibility.

I have said it before and I will say it again without any apologies. Even then, there are still some who are awestruck at the continued attempts by the West (read Britain and America) to make Zimbabwe Africa’s protracted battleground for their imperialistic and hegemonic interests.

ICH

By Mike Whitney

28/07/08 “ICH” — The Bush administration will be mailing out another batch of “stimulus” checks in the very near future. There’s no way around it. The Fed is in a pickle and can’t lower interest rates for fear that food and energy prices will shoot to stratosphere. At the same time, the economy is shrinking faster than anyone thought possible with no sign of a rebound. That leaves stimulus checks as the only way to “prime the pump” and keep consumer spending chugging along. Otherwise business activity will slow to a crawl and the economy will tank. There’s no other choice. Read the rest of this entry »

Bailout cure worse than disease

Posted by smeddum on July 28, 2008

Asian Times
By Peter Schiff

With President George W Bush no longer threatening a veto, the subprime mortgage and Fannie and Freddie “bailout” bill was able to sail through the US Congress. In anticipation of its enactment, congress had the foresight to raise the national debt limit to US$10.6 trillion. Who says that politicians don’t plan ahead?

Once signed into law, the budget-busting legislation will hand the administration a blank check to prop up the ailing home lenders. The ultimate cost is anybody’s guess. I believe that the price tag will be higher than just about anyone imagines. Treasure Secretary Henry Paulson’s Bazooka will be locked and loaded with enough fire power to blow what’s left of the US economy into the dustbin of history. Read the rest of this entry »

A War of Illusions

Seen as a victory by American anti-vaccine advocates and as an historic admission by the US government that vaccines cause autism, the Department of Health & Human Services recently conceded in a lawsuit that five vaccines simultaneously given to a Georgia girl, Hannah Poling when she was 19 months old, “aggravated a rare underlying metabolic condition that resulted in a brain disorder with features of autism spectrum disorder”. The sick crap about these vaccine cases is that you cannot sue the manufacturers directly. They are held in a special vaccine “court” and the best outcome possible even in there is to get some money from a federal vaccine fund. Even if a person believes the government is good and loving, and of course, there are people who do lie to milk some payments for themselves, but this unreasonable scorched earth policy is the smoking gun proof in this pudding of the Siamese twin style relationship between the government and the drug companies.
